Great wine and great food in great company
The club aims to hold four wine dinners each year. Usually, we hold a Claret dinner each Autumn and a Burgundy dinner in the New Year. The dinners are usually held in Livery Halls in the City, or other Clubs in Central London.
The committee invites an expert speaker, often a grower or merchant, sometimes a Master of Wine, to each dinner. The speaker describes the wines, helping members grow their understanding and answering questions. They may even bring some special wines for the occasion.
The menu for each dinner is carefully chosen to complement the wines being shown to further enhance enjoyment. Usually we present an aperitif then around 5 or 6 other wines which can include whites, reds and dessert wines.

Tickets are priced so that the event breaks even, with an allowance for the cost of replacing the wines used with wines of comparable quality so as to maintain the integrity of the Club’s Reserves. Members are entitled to a discount on the price of their own ticket.
A dress code is defined for each event, with some being black tie evening. T
o help members and their guests an extract from a City Livery Company's etiquette is here. For others lounge suits, and tie for gentlemen or smart-casual is appropriate.
Members who attend our AGM receive a complimentary glass of Champagne.
