This is a very unusual opportunity to try some young, old and rare wines from Domaine Tempier, in Bandol, Provence.
Last year Mark Savage MW gave us a fascinating evening featuring Château Tertre Roteboeuf, and now he is offering us 12 wines in three flights covering three decades, between 2011 and 1982. Domaine Tempier sets the bench mark for the wines of the Provençal appellation, where mourvèdre is the dominant grape. The wines can be delicious when young, yet will keep to a grand old age, as we will see.
Andrew Jefford has just written in the FT about the great wines of Bandol, - “they are fine wines by any measure. Aromatic complexity, harmony and equilibrium, textural depth, allusive power and the ability to age... yet you will find rosé in abundance in one of the world’s greatest sites for mourvèdre."
The first wine of the evening will be a rosé! Once praised by Robert Parker as the greatest rosé in the world...
Mark will share his fascination with these wines, showing us the various cuvées of the Domaine, which are Classique, Migoua and Tourtine.
Flight one: 2011, 2010, 2009, and 2008.
Flight two: 2000, 1999, 1997 and 1994.
