Sunday October 27th

Check in at the British Airways area in London Gatwick’s North Terminal no later than 11:30 as your flight no BA 7987 departs at 13:40 arriving into Bordeaux Merignac at 16:20 when you collect your luggage and are transported by coach to:

Many of Bordeaux’s restaurants are closed on Sundays.The “fine restaurants” and bistros I am told are open in the city centre quarter on a Sunday. “Fine Restaurants”

Monday October 28st

Check in at the British Airways area in London Gatwick’s North Terminal. Your flight no BA 7983 departs at 08:35 arriving into Bordeaux’s Merignac Airport at 11:15, clear Passport Control, collect your luggage and go through Customs to meet Edwin Doran who will take you to your bus to meet the remainder of the party.

You will be driven to Rauzan Segla where you will be given a sample as you move through the buildings. This will be followed by a tasting after which you will have a

19h00 There will be a small reception in the hotel to ensure that everybody gets to know each other before we head off on foot for Restaurant Didier Gelineau, 26 rue du Pas-St-Georges. The hostess is his wife Marylene. The cuisine is based on local produce which has a touch of inventiveness worthy of the finest restaurants. You will receive the menu prior to your arrival. Didier Gelineau is rated by both Michelin and Gault Millau.

Tuesday October 29th

07:00 Breakfast available 09:30 Depart for our first day’s tasting to Lafite Rothschild (www.lafite.com). Lafite Rothschild Wine Year Colour Nose Palate Total Ducru Beaucaillou (www.chateau-ducru-beaucaillou.com). Wine Year Colour Nose Palate Total Lunch at the Lion d’Or in Arcins near Margaux (Michelin 2001 – page 740). Dutruch Grand Poujeaux Wine Year Colour Nose Palate Total Return to the hotel with plenty of time to refresh and change before setting off for dinner with Anthony Barton at Langoa Barton. Leoville & Langoa Barton Wine Year Colour Nose Palate Total Back to the hotel after dinner.

Wednesday October 30th

07:00 Breakfast available 09:30 We visit La Mission Haut Brion and Chateau Haut Brion (www.haut-brion.com). Thursday October 31st

Tonight’s dinner is in the St James in Bouilac (Michelin 2001–page 280), outside Bordeaux. Transfers by coach.

Friday November 1st

07:00 Breakfast available 10:30 Today is a national holiday in France and vineyards are closed. We shall travel to the unique resort of Arcachon We have arranged a private tutored tasting given by Sebastian Payne M.W. Tasting Wine Year Colour Nose Palate Total Lunch will be at Le Lido. You will have a copy of the menu in your travel pack. The coach will take you back to the hotel. Tonight’s dinner is with Charles Sichel at Chateau Palmer. Chateau Palmer Wine Year Colour Nose Palate Total Transfers by coach.

Saturday November 2nd

07:00 Breakfast available Check out and payment of your extras bills must be done by 11:00. Your luggage will be carefully stowed for you whilst you have plenty of time for shopping and a final memorable lunch before the coach collects you from the hotel and transfers you to Merignac Airport to check in for flight no BA 7984 which departs at 12:05 and arrives into London’s Gatwick North Terminal at 12:40. Go through Passport Control, collect your luggage, clear Customs and disperse for home.....
